Married couple killed in interstate highway crash

A car accident on U.S. 35 took the life of a married couple on July 20. Their vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox SUV that strayed into its path. The SUV was being driven by a 59-year-old man from Kettering, Ohio. The SUV reportedly had passed approximately five other vehicles before the accident occurred. There was pouring rain at the time, with one motorist on the highway at the time indicating the rain made it hard to see. The road at the site of the crash was described by one investigator as "treacherous."

The couple who perished was a 48-year-old man and his 52-year-old wife. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Many Ohio car accidents similarly involve multiple deaths and injuries. The married couple's adult son and his two children, a 3-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter, were also riding in their vehicle and were also hospitalized with injuries. The adult son's injuries included a punctured lung.

The SUV driver was also briefly hospitalized for injuries but quickly released. His 57-year-old wife, however, remains in the hospital with cracked ribs and a number of broken bones. A police investigation into the causes of the accident is ongoing, and it is possible that criminal charges might be filed against the SUV driver. The investigation is utilizing the services of an accident reconstruction team.

After such an accident, those injured or the families of the deceased should consult with an experienced personal injury attorney. Those who are injured or the families of those who were killed may have a civil action for such claims as pain and suffering, emotional distress, loss of consort or wrongful death, as well as other damages. An personal injury attorney will be able to explain your rights and options in such a civil action.
