Widow sues hospital for her husband's death

Thewrongful death of a loved one can leave you feeling lost and hurt. When medical malpractice comes into play, it makes the situation even more unbearable. In this case, a woman is suing Wheeling Hospital Inc. in the Circuit Court of Ohio County, and she believes that it's because of medical malpractice that her husband is now dead.

On Sept. 13, the news of Wheeling Hospital Inc. being sued hit the region. According to documents in the lawsuit, the woman's husband was examined by two doctors who came into contact with him after he was taken to the emergency room in January 2012. At the time, it was discovered that he also had a high temperature of 103.2 degrees, elevated blood pressure, ketones, glucose, nitrates, an enlarged spleen, and other medical problems all occurring. He was also believed to have had a highly sensitive, blood-based staph infection.

On Feb. 3, the man was discharged with a diagnosis of Staphylococcus aureus urosepsis. The man allegedly did not have a liver-function test or echocardiogram while he was in the hospital. On Feb. 9, the man was again taken to an emergency room, but this time at Reynolds' Memorial Hospital. The physicians allegedly suspected endocarditis and ordered an echocardiogram and other tests. When this was done, it was discovered that he had infective endocarditis.

The man's wife is now seeking damages, including costs and punitive damages, because she believes the doctors failed in their duties to treat her husband at the same capacity as other doctors would have in the same situation.

Although the loss of a loved one is difficult, compensation can help cover the medical bills, funeral fees and other financial difficulties you may suffer due to their passing. With representation, you may be able to claim compensation for medical malpractice or negligence.
