Are Ohio motorcycle accidents and others increasing?

Ohio motorcycle accidents remain a big problem, despite the fact that drivers of all vehicles are aware that they should be obeying the law and sharing the road.

No matter if you are riding your motorcycle in Ohio or another part of the country, you know that there are steps you can take to avoid trouble. This includes making yourself visible at all times and wearing as much protective gear as possible.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted that nearly 5,000 people died in motorcycle accidents in 2012. This is a big number, especially when you consider the fact that it increased 7.1 percent when compared to 2011.

In addition to the people who have died in Ohio motorcycle accidents, as well as incidents in other states, 93,000 motorcyclists were injured in 2012. Once again, this is an increase from the previous year.

When it comes to safety, motorcyclists were 26 times more likely to die than an occupant in a passenger car involved in an accident.

The overall number of motorcycles on the road, reaching approximately 8.5 million in 2012, has something to do with the number of accidents.

With a growing number of motorcyclists on the road, the chance of this type of accident may continue to increase. While more people are injured than die in these accidents, the risk of both is very real.

In the event that a person is injured in an Ohio motorcycle accident due to the negligence of another party, such as the driver of another vehicle, the victim could consult with an attorney regarding his or her legal rights.
