Are you familiar with the types of distracted driving?

Over the past 10 years, more and more people have come to realize the seriousness of distracted driving. There are many reasons for this, including the fact that it's claimed the lives of thousands of people.

On the surface, it's easy to believe that distracted driving is one thing and one thing only: Using a cellphone while behind the wheel.

Although this is one of the most common types of distracted driving, there are many other behaviors that fit into this category. Some of these include:

-- Eating and drinking.

-- Talking with other passengers, especially when you take your eyes off the road.

-- Grooming, such as applying makeup or combing your hair.

-- Reading, including books, maps, or anything else that is a distraction.

-- Watching a video.

-- Using a navigation system, either on your phone or in dash.

-- Adjusting a sound system, such as the volume or searching for a channel.

Most states have taken many steps in their quest to end distracted driving. And while strict laws have gone a long way in helping crack down on this crime, it remains a problem throughout the country.

Even if you understand the dangers of distracted driving, it doesn't mean that others on the road at the same time have the same feelings. For this reason, another party could cause an accident.

If you're injured in a distracted driving accident, don't hesitate to contact an ambulance. From there, once you are up to it, you'll want to learn more about who caused the accident and your legal rights in Ohio moving forward.
