Do you know how to drive safely at rush hour?

For many people, taking to the road at rush hour adds a lot of stress to their daily lives. Unfortunately, you may not have any way of avoiding this.

Here's the good thing: There are steps you can take and tips you can follow to ensure that you drive safely during rush hour. Here are three ideas to consider:

-- Be patient. Although you are in a hurry to reach your destination, you don't want to act impatient as this increases the likelihood of being involved in an accident.

-- Don't drive distracted. If traffic is moving slowly, you may be tempted to check out your phone, mess with the radio station or have a bite to eat. Even if you're in stop-and-go traffic, you need to avoid distractions.

-- Stay in your lane. Some people jump in and out of their lanes in an attempt to go faster. However, as you know, this isn't going to get you anywhere in a hurry. It's better to pick a lane and stay put for the time being.

The bad thing about rush hour is this: Even if you do whatever it takes to remain safe, there are other drivers who don't care about this. Instead, they do whatever is best for themselves, even if it means increasing the chances of causing an accident.

If you're involved in a rush hour accident, attempt to pull your vehicle to the side of the road. From there, call for an ambulance and wait for police to arrive before you do anything else.

Once you have received the medical care you need, you may want to get more information about how to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering from the at-fault driver.
