Nurse Whistleblows After Surgeon Performs Unnecessary Operations

Heart surgery is not a procedure to be taken lightly. Although it's a relatively common operation, it is major surgery and comes with risks. Amazingly, a recent investigation uncovered a heart surgeon's unscrupulous practice of performing unnecessary heart surgery on patients. Why? To rake in profits.

The heart surgeon's egregious acts of medical malpractice may have gone unnoticed if not for the brave heroics of a nurse, C.T. Tomlinson, who worked in the heart clinic. Tomlinson reported the behavior to the chief ethics officer of the huge hospital corporation he worked for, HCA.

"It bothered me. I'm a registered nurse. I care about my patients," said Tomlinson.

An investigation was conducted and the chain concluded that Tomlinson's internal whistleblower complaint was accurate. Sadly, Tomlinson's employment with the HCA ended soon after - in retaliation, he claims.

HCA is the largest for-profit hospital chain in the U.S. Bigger isn't always better, as huge corporations sometimes forget that dollars and cents aren't what are most important in healthcare, it's about the patients and their quality of life. Tomlinson should be the type of nurse HCA wants working for it.

If you or a loved one has been harmed in a medical procedure because a doctor failed to truthfully discuss all your options - known as a lack of informed consent - contact a skilled Ohio medical malpractice lawyer to explore your legal rights.
