Parents file wrongful death suit against doctor in vet's death

Losing a loved one is tragic in any circumstances. When family members feel that medical professionals could have prevented the death, the tragedy is compounded by additional emotions. Seeking compensation for the loss of a loved one through a wrongful death lawsuit won't solve problems of grief. Legal closure and the knowledge that the errant professional will be retrained or unable to hurt others can be medicinal for grieving families, however.

An Ohio mother and father are currently embroiled in a wrongful death suit against the doctors who treated their son. According to reports, the 25-year-old man returned from Iraq in 2009 as a vet. Professionals at the Veteran's Clinic considered the man to be a suicide risk due to diagnoses of anxiety and depression.

According to medical records, the man suffered a traumatic brain injury during his service. He was also diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The 25-year-old vet took his own life in 2009.

The lawsuit claims that doctors were negligent in their treatment of the man, which led to his suicide. According to one medical expert presented by the plaintifff, the man was treated with pills for back pain and nothing else. According to the plaintifffs, doctors did not treat the man's mental condition appropriately.

The lawsuit alleges that physicians spent very little time with the 25-year-old. According to the parents' attorney, doctors spent as little as a few minutes during each appointment. The defendants, on the other hand, state that there isn't anyone who can be blamed for the death of the man and that medical staff did nothing wrong. In the end, both sides will present their case in court and a jury will decide the matter of fault.
