Flying debris from accident injures Ohio motorcycle rider

After the long and harsh winter, spring has finally arrived in Ohio. This nicer weather means that motorcycle enthusiasts are out in full force. Also noticeable are the messages of motorcycle awareness that remind other drivers to keep an eye out for these smaller vehicles sharing the roadways. A recent accident in Riverside is a stark reminder to drivers that they must always be careful on the roadways because causing injury to a motorcycle rider is possible even when a driver doesn't directly crash into the motorcycle.

The accident occurred in the evening hours near Tall Oaks and Woodman drives when a truck slammed into the sign announcing an arrival to Riverside. When the driver struck the entrance sign, debris went flying. A piece of debris hit a motorcycle rider, who wasn't wearing a helmet. The man was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

The driver who caused the accident was cited for failure to control, but other charges might be filed as the incident is investigated.

For the motorcycle rider, having to cope with the after effects of his injuries might prove to be a long and complex journey. On top of his physical injuries, he might also have to deal with the financial implications of the accident. His motorcycle might be damaged, and medical expenses may mount. He may have had to miss work, which may result in a loss of income. When that loss of income and the mounting bills happen at the same time, the effects can be devastating.

He may opt to seek compensation for his injuries, which won't take away the injuries, but might minimize the financial impact of the accident. Other victims of Ohio motorcycle accidents caused by another driver may also have the right to seek compensation.
