Ohio family files lawsuit for teen's death in motorcycle accident

Motorcycle awareness campaigns are running full force in Ohio and around the rest of the country. While these campaigns serve as a widespread reminder to watch out for motorcycles as you drive, learning about an actual motorcycle accident might be a more effective reminder to always be aware. One family has recently filed a lawsuit to help cope with the damages caused by the loss of a teenager last year who was struck by a vehicle as he was riding his motorcycle.

The accident occurred last year on May 15. The vehicle that struck the eastbound rider was going westbound and attempting to make a turn into a driveway when it crashed into the motorcycle.

At the time of the accident, the motorcycle rider was engaged to a woman who was pregnant with his child. The lawsuit alleges that the teen suffered pain caused by the injuries he suffered during the accident and then died from those injuries. It also alleges that on top of the more than $8,000 worth of funeral expenses for the teen motorcycle rider, the family also suffers from the loss of their loved one.

The lawsuit is seeking more than $25,000 in damages. Two male defendants are named in the lawsuit. One of those men is accused of failing to yield the right of way, failing to look out for other vehicles and negligently operating the vehicle when he turned in front of the motorcycle.

This tragic loss means that the teen will never meet his child, and the child will grow up with a father. This family has opted to try to soften the financial blow of his untimely death by seeking compensation. Anyone who has lost a loved one in a tragic Ohio motorcycle accident similar to this one might have the right to do as this family did.
