Ohio car accident kills 1, drunk driver arrested after fleeing

Drunk driving is a choice that some people make without much thought. Unfortunately, those drivers take other people's lives into their hands when they make the fateful decision to drive drunk. A recent accident in Canton Township, Ohio, shows just how much a drunk driver's actions can affect other people.

The accident happened on Interstate 77. The alleged drunk driver lost control of his vehicle and crossed the median. He slammed into an oncoming pickup truck head-on. While the 20-year-old alleged drunk driver wasn't hurt, the 28-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck was. That man was taken to Aultman Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

One thing that makes this accident such a profound example of the tragedy of drunk driving accidents is that the alleged drunk driver didn't even seem to care that he had harmed someone because he didn't stick around to help. Instead, the man fled on foot, but officials found him shortly after. He was taken into custody. Officers are working with the Canton City Prosecutors Office to decide on criminal charges.

The victim in this case was killed senselessly by someone who didn't have the mental clarity to make good decisions while driving. His family has to suffer the mental agony and pain of knowing that he isn't with them anymore.

Anyone who has lost a loved one in an Ohio car accident has the right to seek compensation for financial damages related to the accident. While this won't bring your loved one back in the physical form, it might take away some of your financial stress so you can focus on the good times you had with your loved one as you try to heal from the tragedy.
