Ohio motorcycle accident caused by failure to yield at stop sign

Any motorist who gets a driver's license has to take a test that proves they know basic traffic laws. One of the most basic traffic laws is that drivers must stop the vehicle they are driving if they come to a stop sign or a red traffic signal. Failing to do so is not only a traffic offense but can also lead to serious accidents. The Ohio State Patrol recently responded to an accident that likely would have been prevented if a driver had only stopped at a stop sign.

The accident happened at the intersection of County Road 175 and County Road 260. The driver of a 2011 Ford didn't stop at a stop sign in the northbound lane of County Road 260. He slammed into a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle when he drove through the intersection.

The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the motorcycle. Emergency Medical Services transported the 63-year-old man to the hospital, but his condition isn't known. The 70-year-old male driver of the Ford received a traffic citation for failure to yield at a stop sign.

With all the reminders in the media about driving safely when motorcycles are around, accidents like this shouldn't happen. The driver of the Yamaha might have to worry about paying for medical bills and other expenses associated with this accident as he tries to heal from being ejected from the motorcycle.

Anyone who has been hurt in an accident while driving a motorcycle might choose to pursue legal action against the person who was at fault for the Ohio motorcycle accident. Being properly prepared for each step of the process can help to reduce some of the stress of the legal proceedings.
