What are mild traumatic brain injury symptoms?

When a person is involved in a motor vehicle accident, there is always the chance that he or she could suffer a brain injury. While some of these are more serious than others, any brain injury can lead to a variety of symptoms.

Traumatic brain injury can impact both the mind and body, with some symptoms lingering for an extended period of time.

Mild traumatic brain injuries are not as advanced as severe traumatic brain injuries; however, these can result in a variety of signs and symptoms that must be dealt with in the appropriate manner. Common physical symptoms of mild traumatic brain injury include:

-- Loss of consciousness

-- A confused or disoriented state

-- Nausea

-- Vomiting

-- Sleeping difficulties

-- Drowsiness

-- Fatigue

-- Sleeping more than usual

-- Loss of balance

Along with physical symptoms, here are some of the sensory and mental symptoms of mild traumatic brain injury:

-- Sensory problems such as ringing of the years and blurred vision

-- Sensitivity to sound or light

-- Feelings of depression

-- Mood swings

-- Difficulty concentrating or remembering the past

Since no two people are identical, no two brain injuries are exactly the same. Any injury, even if it appears to be minor at first, should be treated by a medical professional. Brain injuries can hide but quickly cause issues in the future.

A brain injury is nothing to take lightly, as it can alter a person's life in many ways. If a person suffers mild traumatic brain injury in the event of an accident, they may want to learn more about their rights by speaking with a knowledgeable attorney.
