Stay as safe as possible on Ohio roadways this holiday season

As the holiday season comes to a close, more and more people will be hitting the roadways and interstates to go spend time with loved ones. The last thing people want to happen while traveling is getting into an accident. The only way to avoid accidents is if everyone on the road drives safely. Sadly, that isn't likely to happen since people can drive while distracted, drink and drive, and drive carelessly.

In Ohio, drivers aren't allowed to text while driving. Some drivers are forbidden from using a cellphone while driving; however, even drivers who are allowed to use a cellphone while driving should avoid doing so in order to remain safe. This enables you to place your entire focus on the roadway.

Drunk driving is another big safety issue during the holidays. While sobriety checkpoints are allowed all year long, there is a chance that some drunk drivers won't come across those. Those are the ones who could potentially cause an accident.

If you are injured in an accident that was caused by a distracted driver, a drunk driver or a careless driver, you have the right to seek compensation. Because you don't know if or when you will be an accident, remember to buckle up your seat belt this holiday season to help you stay a little safer. As a reminder, everyone in the front seat must be bucked in, children 8 to 14 in back seat must be buckled in. Children 4 to 7 must be in a booster seat. Children up to 4 have to be in a child safety seat.
