Why should motorcyclists understand concussion symptoms?

As a motorcyclist, you never think about the possibility of being involved in an accident. Even though this may not enter your mind often, you know it is a possibility. After all, other drivers could make a decision that leads to an accident.

You can suffer many injuries in a motorcycle accident. This is why it is important to wear protective gear at all times, regardless of how far of a trip you are taking. For most bikers, this starts with a high quality helmet.

Even though wearing a helmet can help prevent serious head injury, there is always the possibility of a concussion. Motorcyclists should know the symptoms of this type of injury, as it will allow them to receive the appropriate treatment in the event of an accident.

Some of the most common symptoms of a concussion include:

-- Headache

-- Nausea

-- Vomiting

-- Ringing in the ears

-- Confusion

-- Slurred speech

-- Fatigue

-- Loss of memory

You must remember that the signs of a concussion can be delayed for days or weeks. If you are involved in a motorcycle accident, pay close attention to your health in the days and weeks following. If you begin to experience any concussion symptoms, it is important to once again be examined by a doctor.

Every motorcyclist should wear a helmet, as this can help prevent brain injury. If a person is involved in an accident, such as when another driver crashes into them, it is a good idea to receive medical attention and to go through concussion testing.
