Man suffers head injury when glass falls on him at Ohio factory

Factory workers face some unique hazards while working. For some of these workers, the danger of objects falling is one of those hazards. A recent accident in Mason, Ohio, shows just how bad accidents involving falling objects can be.

A worker at Pioneer Cladding & Glazing Systems was working when he was injured by a thick piece of glass. He was opening a crate that had multiple panes of glass. One of those panes of thick glass, which weighed well over 1,000 pounds, shifted forward and struck him in the head, knocked him over, and landed on him.

The man, who is said to have suffered a "significant head injury," was breathing and conscious at the scene. He was treated by emergency medical services and taken to a hospital via air transport from the scene of the accident.

This man's accident shows the importance of proper safety procedures in the manufacturing industry. Workers dealing with heavy objects and those who work in dangerous industries have the right to expect that there are proper safety procedures in place. While there is no allegation that safety procedures in this case were lacking, it still shows how important it is for companies to ensure workers have the safest working conditions possible.

Anyone who suffers an injury to the head is at risk of injury to the brain. When the brain is injured, significant costs are often incurred because of the medical care necessary. If the injury is caused by another person's negligence, the injured party might opt to seek compensation for the damages.
