Foreign objects in the eyes and skin are serious medical issues

When you are in a motorcycle accident, there is a chance of being injured by flying debris. In some cases, the debris, or even objects on the ground, might become embedded in your skin or eyes. Taking care of foreign objects that are in the eye requires emergency medical care. Taking care of foreign objects in the skin might also require medical treatment. However, some minor cases might be able to be treated with first aid.

Any foreign object that is embedded in the skin or eye carries a risk of infection. Just think about how dirty the ground is on the roadways, and it is easy to see how many germs and how much bacteria is likely to be found there. Because of that risk of infection, seeing a medical professional regarding the foreign body is a good idea.

Unless the foreign body is a small splinter that is in the skin, you shouldn't try to remove it yourself. Instead, you should immobilize the foreign body if it is in the skin or bandage the eye if it is there. You must take care not to move the foreign object because any movement can lead to more severe injuries to the area.

Once you seek care from a medical professional, you will be able to learn the treatment plan for your case. You might also decide that you should seek compensation for the injury because the costs associated with the medical care and treatment plan might be considerable. If you opt to seek compensation, make sure that you do so within the Ohio statute of limitations for personal injury cases.
