Are you aware of these fall driving pitfalls?

With the fall season closing in, road and weather conditions are about to change. If you don't account for this, you could find yourself in a difficult position that could lead to serious injury or even death.

The bad thing about fall season driving is that there are pitfalls that can lead to accidents. But here is the good thing: You can avoid trouble if you know what you are doing.

Here are three fall driving pitfalls you may have to contend with in the months to come:

-- Rain. This is not the case every fall season, but you should expect more rain than you experienced in the summer. Are you ready to deal with this while driving?

-- Leaves on the road. When too many leaves build up on the road, it can lead to a slippery surface. If you neglect to account for this, the chance of an accident is much greater.

-- Fog. This is a particularly big problem during the early morning hours. If you wake up to dense fog, be sure you leave yourself enough time to reach your destination. You will want to slow down to avoid trouble.

These are just a few of the most common fall driving pitfalls. Even if you are familiar with these pitfalls and even if you take extra precautions, you never know if others are doing the same. For this reason, you need to pay attention to your own driving techniques, as well as what others around you are doing. This can increase your chances of avoiding a serious accident.
