How does winter weather impact drivers?

As a driver, you know one thing to be true: Weather conditions can change at any point in time. Just when you think you are in the clear, you could run into a snow squall. Or maybe the sun is shining bright one minute, just for an ice storm to roll into the area.

During the winter months, in particular, there is a good chance of inclement weather. Even if conditions are favorable at the present time, this could change soon enough.

Snow can wreak havoc on Ohio roadways, causing drivers to make decisions that put them in a bad position. For instance, snow impacts visibility distance and pavement friction. Along with this, it could lead to lane obstructions, thus making it a challenge for vehicles to get to where they are going.

From an operational standpoint, snow, as well as other road conditions, should lead to a slow down in speed. It doesn't matter what type of vehicle a person is driving, if bad weather closes in they need to slow down.

Furthermore, it is important to always know what other drivers are doing. This also means making yourself visible to all drivers, at all times.

Winter weather can impact a driver in a number of ways. If you run into inclement weather, it would be in your best interest to reach your destination as soon as possible. For those who have to be on the road, change your driving style while watching out for those around you. It only takes one poor decision by another driver to cause a serious accident.
