How often does the average person crash?

You may be confident in your own driving abilities and sure that you'll never get in an accident, but the stats show that the vast majority of drivers are going to be involved in accidents eventually. According to researchers, a car accident happens once every 17.9 years for the average driver.

Most people pick up their driver's license at 16. This means that the average person will then crash by age 34. If you hit 35 or later without being involved in an accident, while that's quite an accomplishment, it could mean one will happen soon.

Of course, averages never quite tell the whole story. If you drive for 30 years without an accident and then are involved in three crashes in the next year, you would have crashed an average of once every 10.3 years. You know that you spent three straight decades without a wreck, but pure statistics don't reflect that.

It's also important to note that you can be a terrific driver and still be in an accident caused by another driver. If you come to a stop at a red light and the driver behind you doesn't stop, plowing into the back end of your car, there's very little you can do to prevent or avoid it. Still, that wreck contributes to the overall stats in the United States and the estimated accident rates.

As you can see, it's very important to know what rights you have to compensation after Ohio car accidents. Even if you avoid crashing yourself, the odds say that you're eventually going to be struck—and potentially injured—by someone else.
