Concussion symptoms may be delayed

Although it is a mild traumatic brain injury, a concussion is nothing to take lightly. If you don't receive treatment for this injury, it could cause you additional trouble in the future.

There are times when a person experiences immediate symptoms following a head injury. There are also times when the symptoms are delayed, making it even more difficult for the injured party to pinpoint what is going on.

Here are some of the symptoms that should lead you towards immediate medical treatment:

-- Loss of consciousness

-- Fatigue

-- Dizziness

-- Confusion

-- Pressure in the head and/or a headache

-- Nausea

-- Delayed responsiveness

-- Slurred speech

There is never a time in which a head injury should be overlooked, as this can cause serious trouble both now and in the future. Immediate treatment by a qualified and knowledgeable medical team can go a long way in ensuring that long term symptoms do not persist.

It is not always easy to know if you have been concussed, as the symptoms can be delayed. However, you can always live by the mantra that it is better to be safe than sorry.

Concussion symptoms can lead to more serious health concerns, such as long term memory loss and depression.

It doesn't matter how or why you hit your head, whether it was in a car accident or slip and fall accident, it is best to be examined by a doctor. Only then will you know what happened, how to deal with the problem, and what the future will bring in terms of your health.
