How to drive safely on the highway

Highway driving is not the same as city driving. For this reason, you don't want to treat these as one in the same. When you find yourself on the highway, here are several tips to follow:

-- Don't change lanes often. There will definitely be times when you need to make a lane change, but don't be one of those drivers who is always jumping in and out of traffic.

-- Stay to the right. It is best to stay in the right lane, also known as the slow lane.

-- Use turn signals. Even if you think you have enough space to make a lane change without signaling, this is never something you want to do.

-- See the road around you. Is somebody driving in your blind spot? Is there a hazard on the road? You need to know what's going on around you at all times. Furthermore, remember that this can change quickly due to the speed at which vehicles are traveling.

When you follow these tips, you will remain safer as you make your way down the highway.

The primary risk of highway driving is the pace at which vehicles are moving. Unlike city roads, 70 miles per hour is not out of the question.

Even if you are following these tips, even if you are doing whatever it takes to remain safe, others may neglect to take this approach. If you are hit by a reckless driver on the highway, remove your vehicle from traffic and then decide what to do next. If you are injured, your health is more important than anything else.
