Ebola malpractice-death lawsuit settled out of court

Last month, we discussed the potential medical malpractice lawsuit involving a death of a Texas man infected with Ebola. The victim's family members ended up bringing a malpractice lawsuit against Texas Health Presbyterian hospital and it was recently settled. Although the terms of the settlement were not disclosed, the resolution was probably a good compromise between the two parties.

The family of a 71-year-old woman recently recovered $1 million in damages for her hospital death that occurred 2002. Jurors sided with the deceased's family after weighing evidence regarding medical negligence of the anesthesiologist and hospital staff.

Woman's wrongful death leads to negligence charges for Regency

In Ohio, medical negligence is taken seriously. If you have lost a loved one due to medical malpractice, it's important that you know you're not alone in this trying time. There are steps you can take to make sure this won't happen to anyone else, and you may be able to seek compensation that will help you with extraneous bills and financial hardships due to your loved one's death. If you've been keeping up with the national news, you might have heard about the Regency owners being hit with a negligence charge in relation to a 50-year-old woman's death. Her surviving husband daughter have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Nexion Health Systems, which owns Regency Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, Texas.

Child faces wrongful death due tonsillectomy

Ohioans shouldn't be strangers to routine medical procedures like tonsillectomies or wisdom tooth removal, but as you should know, it can go wrong. Most of the time, smaller things like breaking stitches won't result in a wrongful death, but in this case, a routine tonsillectomy left one little girl brain dead in California. The 13-year-old girl is now at the center of a case between her parents and the hospital. The hospital would like to take the child off life support, and her parents think it's too soon to let go.

New technology could help eliminate medication errors

Franklin, Ohio, residents should be aware that when you go to the hospital, pharmacy or other location for medical treatment, anything is really possible. You trust that a doctor knows what to give you for pain or for a medical treatment, but in some cases, a mistake is made. A wrongful death case can be the result of a prescription error or other medical negligence, so anything that can help eliminate those errors is welcome. Now, the University of Maryland Medical Center is claiming that the use of RFID technology can help eliminate medication errors.
