Do all truckers follow these high wind driving tips?

Categories: Uncategorized

Some truck drivers will do whatever it takes to remain safe on the road, even if it means slowing down and missing a deadline. And then there are those who don’t care about others, and are always driving as fast as possible.

Unfortunately, bad weather can strike at any time. When this happens, it is imperative that Ohio truckers slow down and closely follow the rules of the road. For example, driving a high profile truck in high wind can be extremely dangerous.

Here are some of the things truckers should do when the wind picks up:

— Slow down and leave plenty of extra time.

— Keep two hands on the wheel to protect against losing control as the result of a wind gust.

— Make steering corrections at the appropriate time.

— Maintain a safe distance between other vehicles, as the wind can push a vehicle off its track.

— Pull over to the side of the road if winds are severe enough to put your safety at risk.

It would be nice if all truckers followed these high wind driving tips, however, some don’t see the point in doing so. These are the truck drivers who are more likely to cause an accident.

As the operator of a passenger vehicle, you should be aware of the fact that some truckers will not adjust their approach in the wind. This means that you have to take more caution. The best thing you can do is keep your distance between trucks and other large commercial vehicles. Doing so can help prevent an accident.
