If you’ve been involved in an accident in which you hit your head, such as a car crash, it’s important to realize that you could have suffered a concussion. This is not the most severe brain injury, but it can definitely impact your life in a number of ways.
Here’s the problem with a concussion: Many people don’t understand if they should seek medical attention. Instead, they assume nothing is wrong and that they will be able to recover on their own.
It’s better to be safe than sorry. So, if you think you may have suffered a concussion, it’s best to see a medical professional without delay. From there, your medical team can run the necessary tests, such as a CT scan, in order to determine what is going on.
Also, there are many common signs and symptoms of a concussion, including but not limited to memory loss, confusion, headache, vomiting, seizure, loss of consciousness and a feeling of confusion.
If it’s found that you have a concussion, you can work with your medical team to get the right treatment. This typically means plenty of rest, the avoidance of physical or mental stress and the use of over the counter pain medication.
Remember this: Any brain injury is a serious injury. If left untreated, it’s safe to assume that a concussion could cause more trouble down the road.
If your concussion was caused by the negligence of another party, such as a driver who struck you while you were on your bicycle, you may be able to receive compensation for your injury and other damages.
