Don’t say these things to your insurance company

Categories: Uncategorized

Were you involved in a motor vehicle accident? Are you in the process of filing a claim with your insurance company? If you find yourself in this position, here is some advice: Think twice before you open your mouth.

Your insurance company is listening closely to every word that comes out of your mouth. If you say the wrong thing, no matter what it may be, it could lessen the likelihood of receiving a fair payout.

You should never speak with an insurance adjuster or agent until you have all the facts. Along with this, make sure you don’t say any more than necessary. Talking too much increases the chance of saying the wrong thing.

Here are a few things you never want to say:

— I am sorry. There is no reason to be sorry for anything. Let your insurance company decide who was at fault.

— I think I have whiplash. This is the type of thing you want to save for an attorney. If you begin to talk about your injuries, it will scare the insurance company into contacting its attorneys.

— I don’t know who was at fault. You should never address questions of who was at fault. Again, you don’t want to take the risk of saying the wrong thing.

Dealing with the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident is hard enough. When you add in the fact that you have to communicate with your insurance company, the situation can become even more challenging.

Knowing what not to say to your insurance company is important in the aftermath of a car accident!
