A tragic accident struck Cleveland Heights, Ohio, when a rabbi who was walking home after going to his religious studies was struck and killed by a semi truck. He had been at the nearby Hebrew Academy. His son said that he went there twice each day to study. He was 83 years old.
The son also told reporters that the man was struggling with health issues that made it very difficult for him to walk. He no longer drove his car, but they did not want to keep him from having the freedom to do what he loved.
The accident happened when a semi truck backed over him close to Unger’s Kosher Market. This happened right around 11 in the morning, and it was on South Taylor Road. The police are investigating the accident. Reports indicated that they spent a number of hours at the scene, taking measurements and carrying out a full investigation into why and how the crash occurred.
However, witnesses did say that the truck was allegedly backing up to get to the market when it hit the rabbi.
It is very important for truck drivers to be fully aware of where they are driving at all times. While the trucks do have large blind spots, drivers need to use caution and do what they can to work around these blind spots in a safe manner.
After Ohio truck accidents that lead to death, the family of those who were killed need to keep an eye on the police investigation to find out if the driver was negligent in any way or if the police do not find him to be at fault.
