Untreated Jaundice Caused Baby’s Brain Damage, Lawsuit Says

Categories: Uncategorized

The parents of a 2-year-old baby are trying to hold a pediatrician and clinic accountable for the permanent brain damage their infant son suffered shortly after his birth.

The birth injury lawsuit describes how the health clinic discharged the infant from its care without testing for and diagnosing jaundice. The untreated jaundice quickly caused the baby to suffer brain damage and hearing loss, even though his parents rushed him to a hospital after displaying symptoms of hyperbilirubinemia.

The jaundice lawsuit alleges the following acts of medical negligence:

  • Failing to order appropriate blood tests
  • Failing to take follow-up action after detecting bilirubin levels
  • Failing to immediately send the baby to a hospital for testing and treatment

As the malpractice lawsuit sadly details, jaundice is a deadly condition that requires swift diagnosis and treatment. If your baby was harmed or killed from jaundice, contact an experienced Ohio untreated jaundice lawyer to discuss your legal remedies.
